A battery monitor provides insight into your power consumption and the status of the battery, an indispensable tool for monitoring the battery bank. In addition to battery voltage, current and consumed ampere-hours, the BMV-700 series also indicates the state of charge (%), the remaining time and the power consumption in watts.
This set consists of (see images):
-monitor
shunt 500A
cable set
Battery 'fuel gauge', remaining time indication and much more The remaining battery capacity depends on the amp hours used, the discharge current, the temperature and the age of the battery. Complex software algorithms are required to account for all these variables.
In addition to the main display options such as voltage, current and amp hours consumed, the BMV-700 series also displays state of charge, time remaining and power consumption in watts.
The BMV-702 has an additional input that can be programmed to measure voltage (or a second battery), temperature or midpoint voltage (see below).
Bluetooth Smart Use the Bluetooth Smart dongle to monitor your batteries with Apple or Android smartphones, tablets, Macbooks and other devices.
Easy to install All electrical connections are made with the quick connect circuit board to the power shunt. The shunt connects to the monitor with a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included: RJ 12 cable (10m) and battery cable with fuse (2m); no further parts are needed. A separate ring for the appearance of the front of a square or round display, a locking ring for mounting on the back and screws for mounting on the front are also included.
Easy to program (with your smartphone!) A quick installation menu and a detailed setup menu with scrolling texts guides the user through the various settings. You can also choose the quick and easy solution: download the smartphone app (Bluetooth Smart dongle required)
Midpoint voltage monitoring (BMV-702 only) This feature, commonly used in industry for monitoring large and expensive battery banks, is now being made available for the first time at a low cost, so that any battery bank can be monitored.
A battery bank consists of a series of cells connected in series. The midpoint voltage is the voltage halfway through this series. Ideally, this midpoint voltage is exactly half of the total voltage. In practice, however, deviations occur that depend on many factors, such as different state of charge for new batteries or cells, different temperatures, internal leakage currents, capacities and much more. Large or increasing deviations from the midpoint voltage indicate improper battery maintenance or a faulty battery or cell. Corrective action following a midpoint voltage alarm can prevent serious damage to an expensive battery. Refer to the BMV manual for more information.

More about midpoint voltage
One bad cell or one bad battery can cause a large, expensive battery bank to fail. If batteries are connected in series, a timely warning can be generated by measuring the midpoint voltage. See the BMV manual, section 5.2, for more information. We recommend our Battery Balancer (BMS012201000) to maximize the life of batteries connected in series.
