The Victron Energy MultiPlus 48/20k/250-100 230V is a high-performance 48V inverter/charger designed for demanding residential, commercial, marine, vehicle and professional off-grid energy systems.
Combining a powerful 20kW pure sine wave inverter, a 250A battery charger and a 100A automatic transfer switch in one unit, the MultiPlus provides a flexible solution for battery energy storage, backup power, generator-supported installations and grid-connected systems. It delivers 20kW continuous output at 25°C, with up to 25kW peak power for one minute and a maximum efficiency of 96%. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
With 20kW continuous output power at 25°C, the MultiPlus 48/20k is designed for installations with substantial AC loads. It maintains 18kW at 40°C and 14kW at 65°C, while its short-term power capability reaches 21kW for up to five hours from a cold start and 25kW for one minute. User Manual MultiPlus 20kW-230V
This makes it particularly suitable for applications where high starting currents or temporary power peaks need to be supported.
Victron's PowerAssist technology allows the MultiPlus to supplement a limited grid, shore or generator connection with energy from the battery.
When the connected loads require more power than the AC source can provide, the MultiPlus automatically supplies the additional power from the battery. Once demand decreases, available AC capacity can again be used to recharge the battery. PowerControl simultaneously manages the charging current to help prevent the grid connection or generator from being overloaded. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
This is especially valuable in installations with limited grid connections, generators or shore-power supplies.
The integrated charger provides up to 250A at 25°C, allowing large 48V battery banks to be charged rapidly from an available AC source. The charger supports Victron's adaptive charging functionality, including Bulk, Absorption, Float and Storage stages. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
The charging parameters can also be configured for different battery technologies, including compatible lithium battery systems. User Manual MultiPlus 20kW-230V
When grid, shore or generator power disappears, the MultiPlus automatically switches to inverter operation and continues supplying the connected critical loads.
The switchover takes less than 20 milliseconds, allowing computers and many other electronic devices to continue operating without interruption. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
This makes the MultiPlus highly suitable for backup and UPS applications where continuity of power is essential.
The MultiPlus provides two AC outputs for intelligent load management.
AC-out-1 supplies critical loads and remains powered from the battery when the external AC source fails. AC-out-2 is intended for loads that should operate only when grid, shore or generator power is available, such as an electric water heater or air-conditioning system. User Manual MultiPlus 20kW-230V
This allows non-essential loads to be automatically disconnected during battery operation, helping preserve stored energy for critical equipment.
The MultiPlus can be integrated into both grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy systems and can operate with solar charge controllers as well as grid-tie inverters. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
With an optional external AC current sensor or power meter, the system can use grid measurements to optimise self-consumption and, where configured appropriately, prevent grid feed-in. During a grid outage, the MultiPlus can continue supplying critical loads from the battery. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
For larger installations, three MultiPlus units can be configured to provide three-phase output. VE.Bus communication provides the interface for three-phase operation, remote monitoring and system integration. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN- Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
This makes the 20kW MultiPlus particularly interesting for larger residential, commercial and professional energy systems where a scalable architecture is required.
The MultiPlus can be integrated with Victron GX devices such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. When connected to the internet, system information can be displayed through the Victron Remote Management platform (VRM), with remote access to system data and settings. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
Configuration and monitoring options include VictronConnect, VEConfigure, VE.Bus, GX devices, Digital Multi Control and the optional VE.Bus Smart Dongle. Datasheet-MultiPlus-48V-20k-EN-
