Intelligent Time-of-Use energy management

The SUN-125K-SG02HP3-EU-GM10 provides advanced programmable battery management with six configurable time periods for battery charging and discharging.

Depending on the selected configuration, the Time-of-Use functionality can be used to:

  • Charge batteries during lower-cost tariff periods
  • Discharge stored energy during high-tariff or peak-demand periods
  • Increase photovoltaic self-consumption
  • Configure different battery SOC targets throughout the day
  • Permit grid charging during selected periods
  • Permit generator charging during selected periods
  • Control battery discharge and grid export
  • Optimize the interaction between solar, battery, load and utility power

This gives system designers and operators precise control over how stored energy is used throughout the day.

Multiple operating modes

The SUN-125K-SG02HP3-EU-GM10 supports several energy-management strategies, allowing it to adapt to different installation requirements.

On-grid operation

Solar generation can supply connected loads, charge the battery and, where permitted by local grid regulations and system configuration, export surplus electricity to the grid.

Off-grid operation

The inverter can operate without an active utility connection and supply supported backup loads from PV and battery storage.

UPS / backup operation

Critical loads can be connected to the dedicated LOAD port, allowing the hybrid inverter to form part of a high-capacity backup-power system.

Zero Export to Load

The inverter can limit its output to the connected backup loads and battery charging, without intentionally supplying external home loads or exporting energy to the grid.

Zero Export to CT

Using external CTs or a compatible smart meter, the hybrid inverter can supply both backup loads and other on-site loads while controlling the power flow at the grid connection point.

Selling First

Where permitted, surplus energy can be exported to the utility grid. When the appropriate Time-of-Use settings are enabled, battery energy can also participate in the configured energy-management strategy.

These modes make the inverter suitable for everything from self-consumption and zero-export installations to sophisticated commercial energy-management systems.

AC coupling for existing PV installations

The SUN-125K-SG02HP3-EU-GM10 supports AC coupling, allowing compatible existing grid-connected PV installations to be integrated into a hybrid battery-storage architecture. Deye specifically identifies AC coupling as a feature for retrofitting existing solar systems.

The user manual describes AC coupling on the Grid side or Load side, as well as configurations where an external grid-following inverter can be integrated through the multifunctional connection.

This makes the SUN-125K-SG02HP3-EU-GM10 particularly attractive for commercial sites that already have a sizeable solar installation but now want to add battery storage and more advanced energy management.

Generator integration

For installations requiring an additional energy source, the inverter provides extensive support for diesel or compatible AC generator integration.

The generator can be used to supply the system and charge the connected battery storage.

A dedicated G-Start dry contact can provide a remote generator start signal, allowing generator operation to be coordinated with the battery system.

Available generator-management functions described by Deye include:

  • Automatic start according to battery SOC
  • Automatic stop according to battery SOC
  • Maximum generator charging current
  • Generator maximum run time
  • Generator downtime
  • Remote generator start
  • Generator Peak Shaving

Generator peak shaving allows battery and inverter power to supplement the generator, helping keep the generator's output within a predefined power limit.

Multifunctional GEN / Smart Load port

The inverter's GEN connection is a multifunctional interface rather than simply a generator input.

Depending on system configuration, it can be used as:

  • Generator input
  • Smart Load output
  • On-grid inverter / AC-coupling input

When configured as a Smart Load output, the inverter can control selected loads according to battery SOC or voltage conditions.

This can be particularly useful for controllable non-critical loads that should operate primarily when sufficient stored or renewable energy is available.

Up to 10 inverters in parallel

For extremely high-power applications, Deye specifies support for up to 10 compatible inverters operating in parallel in both on-grid and off-grid configurations.

This makes the 125 kW model particularly interesting for scalable projects. A ten-unit installation can provide a very substantial inverter platform, although system engineering must always follow Deye's official parallel-system requirements.

The user manual specifies that in a parallel system:

  • All connected inverters must be the same model
  • Lithium batteries from the Deye approved battery list should be used
  • Each inverter should have its own separate battery set
  • Master/slave communication is used
  • CT measurement is installed on the master inverter according to Deye's system architecture

100% unbalanced output capability

Deye specifies 100% unbalanced output for this inverter series.

This is particularly useful in large three-phase installations where loads are not distributed equally between L1, L2 and L3.

The manual additionally provides an Asymmetric Phase Feeding function for applicable operating configurations.

250 A continuous AC passthrough

Despite its increased 125 kW inverter power, the SUN-125K-SG02HP3-EU-GM10 retains a substantial 250 A maximum continuous AC passthrough from grid to load.

Together with the separate GRID, LOAD and GEN connections, this makes the inverter capable of functioning as a central power-management component within complex commercial energy systems.
