The KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 M is a highly flexible 3-phase high-voltage hybrid inverter designed for photovoltaic systems that require strong performance, future-proof expandability, and intelligent energy management in one compact platform. The inverter can be used as a PV inverter, and with optional activation it can also operate as a hybrid inverter with battery connection. KOSTAL positions the PLENTICORE G3 platform as an all-in-one solution with 3 independent MPP trackers, optional battery input, optional power upgrade, backup capability with an external switchover device, and compatibility with selected high-voltage battery systems.
A major advantage of the PLENTICORE G3 M is its scalable power concept. The unit starts with a basic AC power of 8.5 kW and can be upgraded to 10.0 kW or 12.5 kW, allowing more system flexibility without replacing the inverter. On the DC side, the M version offers 3 DC inputs, 1 combined PV / battery input, 3 independent MPPTs, a 95 V start-up voltage, 1000 V maximum system voltage, and a 75-900 V working voltage range. The optional battery input on DC3 supports a 95-650 V battery working voltage range and a maximum battery charge / discharge current of 30/30 A, making the M model especially suitable for larger residential and light commercial high-voltage storage systems.
The inverter is built for smart and efficient operation. KOSTAL highlights features such as fast self-learning shadow management, dynamic active power control, 24-hour home-consumption measurement with a compatible energy meter, and low conversion losses due to DC coupling and support for high-voltage batteries. For system integration, the PLENTICORE G3 includes 2 x LAN, WiFi, integrated webserver, data logger, 4 digital outputs, and Modbus/SunSpec (TCP) for Smart Home and advanced energy-management applications. Optional Type 2 DC overvoltage protection can also be retrofitted.
The PLENTICORE G3 M is also designed for practical installation and long-term reliability. It features IP65 protection, is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, and comes in a compact housing size of 561 x 409 x 237 mm with a weight of 22.3 kg. The inverter reaches up to 98.14% maximum efficiency and 97.49% European efficiency, while standby consumption is only 3.5 W. The M version has a maximum output current of 20.0 A and a 3N~, 230/400 V, 50 Hz grid connection, making it a strong choice for demanding three-phase PV and storage applications.
If backup functionality is required, the PLENTICORE G3 M is backup-capable when used with an external switching device. For the M version, KOSTAL specifies 12.5 kVA nominal apparent power in backup mode, with 4.16 kW nominal power per phase, a start-up time of under 5 seconds with the manual KOSTAL BackUp Switch, and under 30 seconds with an automatic backup box.

KOSTAL’s documentation also notes battery- and BMS-specific requirements for some approved systems, including certain BYD, Pylontech, and AXITEC configurations. For example, BYD compatibility is specified from BMU 1.13 / BMS 3.19, Pylontech Force-H1-V2 requires BMS module FC0500-40S-V2, Pylontech Force-H2-V2 requires FC0500M-40S-V2, and AXITEC SV1 / SV2 batteries require their corresponding dedicated BMS modules.
