The KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 S is a highly flexible 3-phase hybrid inverter designed for photovoltaic systems that require performance, expandability, and intelligent energy management in one compact unit. The inverter can be used as a PV inverter, and with optional activation it can also operate as a hybrid inverter with battery connection. KOSTAL positions the PLENTICORE G3 platform as an all-in-one solution with 3 independent MPP trackers, optional battery input, optional power upgrade, backup capability with an external switchover device, and compatibility with selected high-voltage batteries.

A major advantage of the PLENTICORE G3 S is its scalable power concept. The unit starts at 4.0 kW basic power and can be upgraded to 5.5 kW or 7.0 kW, allowing greater system flexibility without changing the inverter. On the DC side, the S version offers 3 DC inputs, 1 combined PV/battery input, 3 independent MPPTs, a 95 V start-up voltage, 1000 V max. system voltage, and a 75-900 V working voltage range. The optional battery input on DC3 supports a battery working voltage range of 95-650 V and a maximum battery charge/discharge current of 17/17 A.

The inverter is built for smart and efficient operation. KOSTAL highlights features such as fast self-learning shadow management, dynamic active power control, 24-hour home-consumption measurement with a compatible energy meter, and low conversion losses due to DC coupling and high-voltage battery support. For system integration, the PLENTICORE G3 includes 2 x LAN, WiFi, integrated webserver, data logger, 4 digital outputs, and Modbus/SunSpec (TCP) for Smart Home and energy-management applications.

The PLENTICORE G3 S is also designed for practical installation and long-term reliability. It features IP65 protection, is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, supports optional Type 2 DC overvoltage protection, and offers a compact housing size of 561 x 409 x 237 mm. The inverter achieves up to 98.03% maximum efficiency and 97.20% European efficiency, with a standby consumption of 3.5 W. The S version has a maximum output current of 11.2 A and a 3N~, 230/400 V, 50 Hz grid connection.

If backup functionality is required, the PLENTICORE G3 platform is backup-capable when used with an external switching device. For the S version, KOSTAL specifies 7.0 kVA nominal apparent power in backup mode, with a start time of under 5 seconds when used with the manual KOSTAL BackUp Switch and under 30 seconds with an automatic backup box.
