CT Clamp Overview
Purpose: The current transformer (CT) clamp is an external sensor that measures the flow of electricity to and from the grid. By monitoring this current, the Force H3X system's Energy Management System (EMS) can intelligently manage battery charging and discharging for optimal performance.
Function: The CT clamp enables features such as self-consumption mode, in which the system prioritizes the use of stored and surplus solar energy to reduce grid usage and utility costs.
Placement: For proper monitoring, the CT clamp is installed on the property's main incoming line, after the meter but before the main electrical panel. This positioning allows you to accurately measure all the energy consumed by the building.
Direction: There is an arrow on the clamp indicating the correct direction of power flow. When monitoring grid consumption, the arrow should point in the direction of electricity flow from the grid to the property.
