The Victron MultiPlus 48/5000/70 inverter/charger combination is a powerful sine wave inverter, an advanced battery charger with adaptive charge technology and a fast AC transfer switch in a single compact housing. The steel/aluminium housing (protection class IP21) makes these MultiPlus models easy to recognize.

All MultiPlus models from this series are equipped with PowerControl and PowerAssist functionality. All models are also suitable for three-phase and parallel connection. This model has a maximum switching current of 100A. Victron Energy's inverter/chargers are designed for professional use. They are suitable for a variety of devices with high and low starting powers. The MultiPlus is a multifunctional energy system with sine wave inverter, battery charger and AC transfer switch. The batteries are safely charged, even if the quality of the power supply is low.
The full bridge plus toroidal transformer topology has proven to be very reliable for many years. The inverter is short-circuit proof and protects against overheating whether due to overload or high ambient temperature.
PowerControl - Maximize use of limited generator, shore or mains power
A maximum generator or shore power can be set with the Digital Multi Control control panel. The MultiPlus then takes into account other power consumers and only uses the power that is still 'left' for charging, so that the generator or shore connection is not overloaded.
PowerAssist – Do more with your generator or shore power
Where peak power is often only needed for a short time, the MultiPlus ensures that insufficient shore or generator power is immediately supplemented with power from the battery. If the load decreases, the reserve current is used to recharge the battery.
High start-up power
Required to start loads with high inrush current such as voltage converters for LED lamps, halogen lamps or power tools.
Automatic and uninterrupted switching (UPS function)
If the power fails or if the power supply is interrupted via shore or a generator, the inverter in the Multi is automatically activated to provide power to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic devices can continue to function undisturbed.
Two AC outputs (the second output is only available on 3 kVA and above models)
The main output has uninterruptible functionality. The second auxiliary output switches off if no external AC source is available, so it only becomes active if AC voltage is available at the AC input of the MultiPlus. Heavy loads that must not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output.
Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel connection
Up to six Multis can be connected in parallel to deliver greater power. Power supply via three-phase current or single-phase current is also possible. On the datasheets you can see which models do and do not have these options.
In addition to the parallel connection, three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output. But that's not all: up to 6 sets of three units can be connected in parallel for an inverter power of 75 kW / 90 kVA and a charging capacity of more than 2000A.
Search Mode (search mode)
When the 'search mode' is switched on, the inverter's no-load power consumption is reduced by approx. 70%. The 'search mode' means that the Multi is switched off when there is no load or when it is very low. Every 2 seconds the Multi will switch on briefly. If the output current exceeds a set level, the inverter continues to operate. If not, the inverter turns off again.
AES (Automatic Economy Switch)
Instead of 'search mode', the AES mode can also be selected. When this setting is enabled, the current consumption at no load and low load is reduced by approx. 20% by 'narrowing' the sine voltage. The AES mode is not adjustable with DIP switches and can only be used in 'stand alone' configuration.
The programmable relay is set as an alarm relay by default, i.e. the relay de-energizes in the event of an alarm or a pre-alarm (inverter almost too hot, ripple voltage on the input almost too high, battery voltage almost too low).
Solar energy: alternating current available at all times - even during a mains failure
The MultiPlus can be used in both off-grid and grid-connected PV and other alternative energy systems. Software to detect power loss is available.
Monitoring and control locally or remotely - optional
Monitor and control your MultiPlus system locally (LAN) or remotely over the Internet from anywhere in the world with the free VRM app and the free VRM portal website. Access is possible for multiple operating systems via a telephone, tablet, laptop or PC. Several options are available: Battery Monitor (BMV), Multi-control panel, Color Control GX and other GX communication devices, VE.Bus Smart Dongle for smartphone or tablet (Bluetooth Smart) and with an interface cable for laptop or PC (USB or RS232). > In the case of a stand-alone application, if the settings need to be changed, this can be done within minutes via a DIP switch setting procedure.
